CHECK IN/OUT TIMES: 3pm on opening day and noon on closing day. Program registration starts at 3pm.
PHONES: CHECK-IN: The front desk will ask for your credit card information upon check-in. Should you use the room phone, you will be presented with a bill upon checkout. No personal checks. No pay phones in hotel. Wireless internet is available for a fee.
HOUSING: Each suite has two rooms with either a king bed or two double beds in the bedroom and a pull-out queen sofa bed in the living room. Each suite has two TVs, cable, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, wet-bar, mini fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. Rooms are cleaned daily. There are no suites on the ground floor; however, elevators are within a short distance from all suites. Only ADA/handicapped rooms have grab bars in the shower/bath. Three people may share a suite; there is no reduction in cost.
HOTEL AMENITIES: The buisness center in the lobby is accessible with your room key. You will find complimentary computers and printing. The hotel also has a coin laundry, ATM, baggage storage, safe deposit box and gift shop.
MEALS: BACL meals are not available outside of the times listed below. If you arrive late on opening night, please plan your dinner for that night accordingly.
BREAKFAST buffet is in the atrium. 6-9 weekdays, 7-10:30 weekends.
LUNCH (noon) and DINNER (5:30) are prearranged meals served as is in the dining area or a meeting room. Complimentary cocktails are served nightly from 5:30-7:30, weekdays in Lounge 150, weekends in the atrium. The dinner hour is determined by the hotel. Since our dinner begins at the same time as cocktails begin serving, please plan accordingly.SPECIAL DIETS CANNOT BE ACCOMMODATED, such as kosher, low salt, low fat, wheat-dairy-egg-nut-free, diabetic, allergies, etc. To keep the price of the program as low as possible, the hotel gives us a set menu. If there are some meals you feel you cannot eat, you have the following options:
1. You can take items from the breakfast bar to be eaten in your room later.
2. You can buy food which can be refrigerated, microwaved and eaten in your room. The city of Burlingame has a free trolley which comes by the hotel and goes into the downtown area. There is a grocery store there where you can purchase food and store in your refrigerator. The trolley doesn not run on Sunday.
3. There are two restaurants across the street from the hotel:
Sea Breeze Café—Open 7am to 3pm, Monday-Friday.
Walk out the side entrance of the hotel on the street side. Across the street is an office building. Cross the street, make a left on the sidewalk and start walking. You will shortly come to a ramp leading to a parking lot. Walk up the ramp and make a right. You will see red table umbrellas. Follow them to the Sea Breeze.
Leann’s 24 Hour Café
Walk towards Airport Blvd. At Airport and Anza, you’ll see Leann’s in front of the Red Roof Inn.
LIMITED SMOKING: All rooms are assigned non-smoking. You must ask for a smoking room.
MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE: Mills Peninsula Hospital is the closest hospital, located at 1783 El Camino Real: 650-696-5400. The closest Kaiser Permanente Hospital is located at 1200 El Camino Real in South San Francisco: 650-742-2100. For dental problems, call John Leung and Associates at 500 Primrose Rd., Suite #3, Burlingame: 650-685-8778. Broadway Pharmacy, 650-343-3651, is at 1300 Broadway and Walgreen's is at 1160 Broadway, 650-347-3026.
WEATHER: Burlingame has moderate weather, with a winter average high of 59BF and a summer
average high of 75BF. Dress in layers; we recommend a waterproof jacket, scarf and hat. Bring an umbrella October through April. Because the hotel is right on the bay, the wind is often very brisk.
PLEASE NOTE: The hotel atrium stays cool year round. Please bring warm clothing no matter when your program is scheduled.
EXERCISE: The hotel borders the San Francisco Bay Trail, a flat walking trail. In the hotel, you can access the heated indoor swimming pool, whirlpools, sauna and exercise room by using your suite key.
PARKING: The Embassy Suites offers complimentary parking. Ask for a parking pass at check in.
LATE ARRIVALS: If you arrive after 4:30pm on opening day, please go to the front desk, check in and pick up your welcome packet. If you know ahead of time that you’ll be late, call BACL so we can let the hotel know to hold your room. If you arrive after 6:30, the hotel will not hold your dinner so plan accordingly.
CANCELATIONS: Call Road Scholar at 877-426-8056 and BACL at 650-557-9000.
HEALTH AND SAFETY FORMS: Please specify if you want a king bed. Otherwise, you will get a room with two double beds. Although the hotel does its best to grant room requests, they are not guaranteed.
WHEELCHAIRS: The hotel has one wheelchair on site, first come, first serve, which cannot leave hotel property. To rent a wheelchair while at the program, call Wheelchairs of San Mateo at 650-342-4864.
EXTRA NIGHTS: Call the Embassy Suites at 650-292-7387 to make reservations.
COMMUTERS: If you are attending the program as a commuter, please note on your health form.
NAME TAGS: Your name tag will have the first name you want to go by, your last name and your state. Road Scholar does not permit cities to be listed.
Hilton Honor points cannot be honored on Road Scholar programs.

TRAVEL TO THE EMBASSY SUITES
HOTEL SHUTTLE: Complimentary shuttle service to and from the San Francisco Airport daily, running every 20 minutes, from 5am to midnight. Walk outside the main level and cross to the center island. Specify you are going to Embassy Suites in Burlingame. Make sure your shuttle displays the Embassy Suites logos. From midnight to 5am, call the hotel at 650-342-4600 and someone from the hotel will come pick you up.
BY CAR:
From the San Francisco Airport
and from the North: Take Hwy. 101 South, exit on Broadway/Burlingame. Take the
second exit as you come off the freeway -- Airport Boulevard/Old Bayshore Highway. Turn
right and go east over the Rollins
Road overpass (you drive over the freeway). Turn right on Old Bayshore Highway. Turn left onto Airport Blvd., then left onto Anza.
From the South: Take
Hwy. 101 North, exit at Anza Blvd., go
straight two blocks to the Embassy Suites.
From the East: From I-580 west, take I-238 which connects to I-880, and then head south on I-880. Then exit to Hwy. 92 West, going across the San Mateo Toll Bridge. Once across, take Hwy. 101 North to the Embassy Suites (see above).
By BART (Bay Area Rapid
Transit) train from Oakland
International Airport:
Take the AirBART Shuttle from the airport into the Coliseum/Oakland
Airport BART Station. Next, take the San Francisco International
Airport train. It goes directly into SF International
Airport. Then take the Embassy Suite's
free airport shuttle from SFO airport to the hotel. See first paragraph of this section for
instructions on catching the shuttle.
